It has been a well established fact that RIG VEDA… an ancient Indian sacred collection of Vedic Sanskrit hymns …   is the worlds oldest documented scripture having strong linguistic and cultural similarities with the early Iranian Avesta, deriving from the Proto-Indo-Iranian times, associated with the early Andronovo culture of ca. 2000 BCE

RIG VEDA … undoubtedly the world's oldest scripture- but scholars on the subject differ on dating it … from 1200 BC to even 5000-7000 BC …

RIG VEDA … Refers to AYAS… meaning [iron…maybe bronze, as scholars tend to differ here too]

BUT … An interesting study on the History of Metallurgy in the Indian subcontinent… throws light on IRON CASTING by referring to Archaeological sites in India, such as Malhar, Dadupur, Raja Nala Ka Tila and Lahuradewa in the state of Uttar Pradesh show iron implements in the period between 1800 BC - 1200 BC

India certainly has one of the richest cultures in the world … civilizations like the Indua Valley & Harappa … are probably the only ones that have been unearthed till date… there are several references in the VEDA' & UPANISHADS about the ancient EPIC' like the RAMAYANA & the MAHABHARATHA … but solely for lack of scientific proof / evidence the same are termed as Myths… but not for long as Archaeology in India is now becoming a very serious study and given time will change many perceptions, thoughts & philosophies…

 

So as I understand ... if we consider the 2 articles referred to .... and understand it... then it would be no use to argue on this issue… as Iron Casting was not alien to ancient India at-least during 1800 BC… which is scientifically proved…!!

               I would request Phillip to kindly mention what ARchaeological evidence demonstrates that the earliest use of Iron in India was around 1000 B.C. And I hope Wiki wouldnt be a valid source to prove the point in Antiquity Field. I mentioned earlier that it had been existent in and before 2000 B.C.  Kindly refer to reference mentioned in previous mail.

 

                I do not understand how does one conclude that anything seen before 1000 B.C should be considered random appearance.My Friend Kenneth had mentioned that In Antiquity field personal research and conclusions are crucial and not considered valid.How do you explain your consideration about anything prior to 1000 B.C be considered as random appearance.ON what basis and How do you say that.

 

                   Well I had mentioned it earlier pl read my previous messages that I didnt prove by any reference that the Laddle was belonging to Indus valley civilization, apart from the Records of the Collector . But what other Members insisted that Iron and Iron artefacts were non existent in India before 2000 B.C was incorrect and hence my messages was for them to prove that Iron belonged to India prior to 2000 B.C.

 

                     I had attached pics of the Laddle for members to review it.

 

                  Even though Robert believed Iron in scarcity and lack of technology in India, I dont blame him, because many biased History texts have defamed Ancient Indian Technology as a way to boast their respective Technologies. And people speak what they learn from thost History Books.But no Regrets.But since Robert came to know about the REal fact he would be ready to learn the REal Story.Scarcity of  knowledge and lack of correct conclusions has brought many Historians to believe that India was an under developed country before 2000 B.C. , which is incorrect.Instead India had much of the Technologies even during 5000 B.C as mentioned in many scriptures.But that is not the point of Our discussion so I would confine it to here.

Archaeological evidence demonstrates that the earliest use of iron in
India appears in and around the Ganga Doab, with the Painted Grey
Ware culture. Estimates have suggested a dating of in and around 1000
B.C.

Anything that shows up prior should be considered random appearance
of the metal (which certainly not only took place in India, but
around all of the Ancient Near East as far back as 2k B..C.) in a
copper age setting and should not be considered the norm of the
period.

That does not create a plausible basis for dating on this laddle I
believe. The scarcity of iron and the overall lack of technology to
smelt it, as per Robert's discussion, certainly casts doubt (no puns
intended of course).
