[RE][Ancientartifacts] Re: Collection of Ushabtis

Melchior, Niek and Tim,

I would also be very interested in any history of these old Cairo dealers.

I have a COA for a scarab from a dealer named E. A. Abemayor. He had a shop across from the Shepherd's Hotel. I researched him. He sold an item to J. H. Breasted in 1920(a Horenheb block if I remember correctly). Breasted later sold this item to the museum in Chicago. Howard Carter also purchased a ushabtis from him which is now in the Cleveland museum. It was a ushabtis of Nectanebo II purchased in 1918 from E. A. Abemayor's Cairo's shop. There also were some "Abemayor brothers" in Luxor who had a shop. I do not know anything else about them - I don't know if they were kin to the Cairo Abemayor.

Niek,

I would be interested in seeing your COA. Could you download a picture in the group photo section?

All,

I recently purchased an 1880's travel book on Egypt. I have enjoyed reading the stories in it. I could recaps some of the more interesting stories if anyone is interested.
