Hi Dave,
Y're right from a photo it is difficult.
However this carving seems out of proportion and the posture and beauty is not rivaling the real antique ones.
Also the surface is much to uniform and not at all pitted as they normally are after 1000 years in the elements.
In my opinion newly produced.
Too good to be true...
