Dave,
I suggest you read all of what I have written below.
>>> ... [Paul Barford and] Trevor have been mentioned as the originators of some >>> of the most objectionable messages.
I think you'll find Kenneth is at the top of the list here. What you appear to disagree with in my posts is SARCASM. If you object to sarcasm then your sensibilities are quite fragile. Idon't believe you'll find any in this post.
>> Really? Post me a couple, off-list.
> I have no interest in any sort of private communication with you. If you
> have something to say to me, do so on list, in full public view.
>> You obviously haven't been reading your "colleague" Kenneth's

I have provided a list for you....and that's only two posts.

Well you had better read what he's been saying over the last few days. And yes, please post the "objectionable messages" or at least some quotes. Include your own attempts at being objectionable as well please.
If your little band of cohorts and sycophants can't see that some of what you say is nonsense then they will be forever confused by what the international community thinks (and does) about their "hobby".
In fact, by NOT engaging in a dialogue, you run the risk of losing access to some of the more easily identifiable avenues for the purchase and sale of antiquities. You must be aware of this.
I can appreciate that you and many others find collecting antiquities absorbing, interesting and stimulating. I don't collect them for several reasons: I can go to a Museum or other institution if I want to see them firsthand; I have a library resource on aspects that interest me and thirdly, if I return to study I have the opportunity to examine ancient works of art as part of the process.
I don't believe that there should be "no collecting of antiquities at all". If the J. Paul Getty Museum can do it, why can't other smaller collectors?
What I object to is the link between your hobby or business and the looting of archaeological sites. It does happen, I don't think there is any disagreement there. Most governments appear to be concerned about this as well.
As collectors and dealers, you need to address these issues and act accordingly.
Trevor.
