I thought that it was a fun "stuff from the attic" story and £ 50,000 still is a score for something tucked away in a box, all but forgotten.  Should have taken a shot with a higher profile auction house, but that's not always easy to do.  Thanks for the results.

His hopes were a bit too high: the cup sold for £ 50,000.
