Re: [Ancientartifacts] Question about an Ebay Shabti

Hi Albert

I am not familiar with this TL testing lab, but the shabti looks entirely authentic to me, and the seller is reputable - he has listed many shabtis over the years and I don't recall seeing any that looked suspect!

I don't read German so can't see how condition is described in the listing, but it does look as if the foot may bave been broken and rejoined.  Not a vital point, but perhaps a consideration when deciding how much to bid.

In fact I think the seller is a member here and perhaps can tell us more about the TL lab?

Tim

Subject: [Ancientartifacts] Question about an Ebay Shabti

A dealer on the recommended list has posted an item which has caught my
interest and before I bid on it, I'm just wondering what other more
knowledgable collectors think of it.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?
ViewItem&rd=1&item=150254896142&ssPageName=STRK:MEBI:IT&ih=005 or
http://tinyurl.com/4cnygc . It says it comes with a copy of a TL-
analysis performed on a shabti of the same group, but I remember
reading that there was some debate as to if a TL-analysis could really
date faience. All your opinions like always are always appreciated.

Once again, Thank you,
Albert
