[Ancientartifacts] Re: Fake lamp?

Hi Cameron,

The lamp is roughly based on real lamps of the 1st - early 2nd
century AD but neither the detailing nor the fabric is convincing.
The execution of the facial details is not period, the filling-hole
is too small and the colour of the fabric (at least as it looks in
the digital image) does not correspond with its expected origin
(typically Italy or Egypt).

The lamp reminds me of modern reproductions made in Italy and I
strongly suspect that is the origin of this item.

As much as you "would love to be wrong" I'm afraid it looks as if you
are right!
