Re: [Ancientartifacts] Brooch - old or not?

Hi Laura

This item has the style of many pieces coming from the Balkans and could well be 'old', though I think it is likely to be very difficult to date accurately, could be anything from last century to Byzantine.  The fact that it has been in seawater will certainly have accelerated corrosion and patination.  Where was the rockpool that you found it in?

Subject: [Ancientartifacts] Brooch - old or not?

Hiya! Total newbie here interested in Egyptian artefacts, but with a question about an object I have no clue about! I found the remains of a brooch in a rockpool at the beach and just wondered if it has any age to it? If it's modern then no harm done i'm just curious :)

Photo here, it's very worn, the light blue colour seems to be some sort of enamel:

Best wishes,
