[Ancientartifacts] Mr. Walpole

Without implying that my opinion matters, I'm going to give it. I've
watched the discourse conscerning Mr. Walpole with grave conscern. I
think his situation has been very poorly handled. It has been my
experience that shooting the wounded is never a good plan. All of us
have made mistakes. It is not uncommon that knowlegable dealers,
sincere in their efforts have been fooled. Much to his credit, Mr.
Walpole has come to this forum in order to address conscerns some
have about his pieces. I admire that. Were I him I'm not sure I
would have. What I don't admire is the condescending, childish and
innapropriate comments that have been aimed at him. When this forum
began it was filled with sincere, dilligent men and women bent on
helping each other and warning the public about fraud. What it
appears to have become is a bitter and nasty group of in-fighters who
seem to place preimminent import on their own egos and opinions. I
believe it not inappropriate to point out that if someone feels an
emotional need to be "better" than another, or to be seen as "The"
expert in a field then perhaps one should consider why they do this
in the first place. I believe that sincere men may disagree, I
believe that all men deserve the benefit of the doubt. I believe one
should be proven guilty, not come before an inquisition to prove his
innocence. It diminishes the forum because it undercuts it's must
fundamental necessity...credibility. Phillip
